Cotton Polyester Blend Fabric Dye

Color results may be somewhat lighter than with an all natural fiber and the best results require a white or light colored base fabric.

The dye will work well with polyester nylon poly cotton blends and will even dye some plastics. This synthetic fabric dye can be used with many different synthetic fibers. If dyeing polyester or a polyester cotton blend keep the fabric in the dye bath for at least 30 minutes to ensure that the color takes fully. As long as the blend contains at least 50 per cent cotton however it will take the colour although the end result will most likely be much lighter than the colour shown on the box.

Some large or stationary items like carpets require a slightly different process and a specialized type of dye. However since printing on polyester garments is more difficult than on cotton or fabric blends polyester products are usually more expensive. Item can remain in dye bath from 10 minutes up to one hour. But thanks to special dyes and advanced printing technologies achieving high quality prints on polyester fabrics is no longer a worry.

Polyester blend fabrics will be more difficult to dye and results may be more unpredictable than an all natural fiber but blends with at least 50 to 60 percent cotton can be dyed with some success. Cotton linen wool and silk are all natural materials and should respond well to dye. Dyeing a cotton polyester blend fabric can take some trial and error as dyes adhere best to 100 per cent natural fibre fabrics. The fabric dye is vibrant and will dissolve in water.

If you are hoping to alter man made fabrics beware that results may be less than ideal.
